Back to School

Our Momstown Anniversary Party was a HUGE success on Thursday. We had a an amazing turn out of members, new and old. We gathered at St. Vincent park to celebrate a great year. Food was a plenty ( as usual with our pot lucks), the weather couldnt have been better, the kids were playing and the moms got a great opportunity to catch up, and meet each other.

Now that August is wrapping up, some of us are getting ready to send kids off to school ( some for the first time), its a fun and exciting time and maybe a little bit scary as well.

Im sending my 3yr old off to JK in September, and my 7yr old to Gr 2. I have very mixed emotions about the whole thing.

Im sending my baby off to JK on the bus and off in to the big "school" world. He is super excited about getting on the bus and being with his friends in JK. His back pack is sitting by the front door already, with his new shoes inside. His lunch bag is ready and he keeps talking about what he is going to bring in it.

I on the other hand, keep thinking "is he going to be able to open the containers?" " Will he eat to slow and not finish his lunch/snack on time?", " Will he be ok on the playground?" I have so many questions, and really the answers are unknown. I know from sending my oldest off to school for the first time 4years ago, he will be fine and adapt to school very quickly. But its still makes me nervous.

On another note, Im excited for some "Mommy" time and already have a list of things I need to get done around the house ie: sorting toys, cleaning out closets etc. I will put the kids on the bus in the morning, wave my good byes and get to work................ counting down the hours to when my little boys get off the bus, give me a big hug, and tell me about their day.

Momstown Barrie Turns One!

Momstown Barrie is turning 1! its hard to believe that one year ago we launched the Barrie Chapter of Momstown. So much has happened over the past year.

Karrie and myself were total strangers when we first met on our way to "head office" in Burlington last August. We had spoken over email once or twice to arrange a spot to meet for the drive up, but other than that, knew nothing about each other. Armed with a Tea, she had picked up for me from Timmies, I picked Karrie up in Innisfil and off we went on this new adventure.

We talked about our kids, husbands and everything in between on the way up. On the way back we talked about our excitement for Momstown, what events we would plan, trips we would take and how it was all going to fall in to place....... Jump ahead one year, and we have an amazing community of Moms and Children in Barrie.

It has been a great year with lots of friends made, great events for the kids, Moms nights out, lots of laughs and plenty of memories.

Please join us at St Vincent Park on Thursday morning to help celebrate out 1st year anniversary to reflect on the year gone by and get excited about the year to come. It can only get better from here.

Bring you friends, members or not, its going to be a morning filled with Songs, Story telling, Parachute games, crafts and so much more!

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Summer is finally here!

The sun is finally shining!! Summer has arrived...........

We had a great morning at the fountains making crafts, catching up and watching the kids run in the water. It finally felt like Summer.

Another sign its summer in Barrie is the Theatre By the Bays Summer Adventure. Next week Momstown will be taking a field trip to the new Theatre on Dunlop St to see Peter Pan and Tinkerbells Summer Adventure. Its sure to be a great morning filled with singing, laughter and lots of fun!

Momstown mind members chimed in on the topic of the week, Slow Melt Popsicles-have
you tried them. It was interesting to see everyones opinons on this new product. Watch out for the next Momstown Mind panel question.

Dont forget about our 1st Anniversary party taking place on August 27th at St Vincent Park. This event is open to everyone, so bring a friend or two along to show them what Momstown is all about. Not a member? thats ok, come on out and join the fun. The morning will be filled with Story Time, Parachute games, crafts, pot luck lunch and much, much more....

August Forecast

The forcast for August so far is looking good! the weather man says August is supposed to make up for the rainy, cold July we had............... lets hope so.

My family has a cottage rented up in Tobermory in a few weeks and is it going to be great to get away and spend some quality time with my boys ( husband included). No computer, TV, Work or other "every day" distractions, just total family fun!!! Too much junk food, late nights, dinners out, and of course what my kids look forward to the most, SUGAR CEREAL!! Its the only time of year I let my kids choose whatever cereal they want for the week. Everyone is pumped and ready to go... the count down is on.

This month you will notice on our message board a new topic in relation to our Momstown Minds panel, we will be talking about a new product that is out on the market. Some of our members were selected ( by age of children) to test this product. Be sure to check the message board on the week of August 9th, to see what the product was and weight in if you have tried it.

Sun and Bubbles!

Finally, a nice day! And boy did the kids enjoy it! A trip to The Gables for some bubble blowing fun was just what we all needed after all the rain and gloom we have had.

July was certainly a drab and depressing month, too much rain and clouds, not very warm and not very summer like! Let's hope that August brings us a real taste of summer, just like we had today, hot and sunny and no rain!!!

Momstown has load of fun planned for August! Field trips to Santa's Village and African Lion Safari, lots of play days at the park and splash pad and of course our Anniversary Party!!

Momstown Barrie will be celebrating it's 1st anniversary on August 27th at St. Vincent Park. Be sure to come out and join us to celebrate momstown!!!
We are hoping for great weather, as we have lots of fun planned for the kids! Crafts and painting, story time, parachute games and so much more!

See you there!!!!

Watermelon! YUM!!!

It seems that summer has remembered that it should be bringing us sunny, hot days! Finally!

Today we headed to the Heritage Park Splash Pad to take advantage of the sun and warm weather and enjoyed some watermelons and crafts! We even had a couple of dads join in on the fun with the moms and little ones!

The sun was shining, it was warm and the air was filled with laughter and cries of excitement as the kids ate their watermelon and ran through the sprinklers with their little buddies. What better was is there to spend a summer morning?

This week is full of SUMMER fun at momstown! Watermelon enjoyed, tomorrow the moms head to DQ for a yummy cool treat and some mommy chit chat time, Wednesday brings another trip to the splash pad, The Gables on Thursday for a Bubble Bonanza, and then off on a field trip to Midland to visit the Enchanted Kingdom....what fun!!!!

Not only has momstown been enjoying the weather, but summer has brought us some new babies! We have had 3 new babies join us since the start of June and have quite a few more on the way before summer ends!!! Congrats to all our summer babies, and good luck to those still to come!
