A visit from Snow White!

A cool fall morning brought the moms and kids out for an enchanting morning with Snow White!

Snow White made her appearance amidst squeals of delights and wonder from little girls dressed in their princess best.

The girls along with a hardy pirate, gathered to listen to a story told by Snow White. After a quiet story the kids were led by the royal princess in some fun and games.

A tea party of juice and cookies got the kiddies all sitting on their bottoms, a task that even the most experienced mom can find daunting at times!!

A final play with the parachute and Snow White had to say good bye. It was a fun and memorable morning for all the girls... and boys!

Catch the School Bus!!!

Momstown moms and kids got in the school spirit today when the kids made their very own school buses!

Some of the kids are still a year away from joining the ranks of the school aged kids, and some are starting this year. No matter what the age though school buses are like fire trucks to kids, something fun and exciting to see!!!

The kids all painted their buses bright yellow, and surprisingly remained quite clean!!!

Once they were dry, the glued on some wheels, added the word SCHOOL, and to my surprise, some were able to write the words themselves!!! Then they added the final touch.... a picture of themselves on their bus!!

It was a fun morning!

Happy Anniversary momstown Barrie!!

This week the fun started off with an Ice Cream Social. One of our members, Lindsey, opened up her home and the !
moms and kids invaded her backyard for a morning of play. While the kids enjoyed the bouncy castle and the slip slide the moms chatted and caught up while watching the babies play.

The highlight of the morning was seeing the kids eyes light up when the ice cream came out and they all got to choose their flavour and topping

Nothing make a kids smile like ice cream!!!

As the week went on the anticipation of the Anniversary Party grew. The weather was calling for rain which made for one nervous momstown mama!!! With all plans set to go rain or shine Thursday came with sunshine and clear skies!

momstown took over Centennial Park for our big celebration drawing hundreds of moms and tots, members and non-members alike.

The morning had its bumps, but all in all it was a fantastic day!!!!
.
Vogel Joy came to Barrie from Woodstock, Ontario to entertain the kids with their musical show, Tumble Tots brought two bouncy castles out for the kids to play on and Lionel from Boston Pizza came out to play with the kids

The kids danced to the music, giggled with excitement as they played in the bouncers and visited with Lionel.

As the morning went on the clouds rolled in, the sky darkened and the wind picked up. Everyone was having such a great time that they braved the wild weather. Eventually the rain started to come and moms and tots packed up feverishly in an attempt to make it out of the park before the skies opened up.

Thank you everyone that came out to celebrate with us!!!

Pizza College!

This week momstown headed to Boston Pizza in Barrie for a pizza making kitchen tour!!

Moms and their kiddies were given a tour of the kitchen before the restaurant opened followed by a chance for the little ones to make their very own pizza!!!

The kids went into the kitchen in groups of 5 and were given a chance to create a
pizza creation!
They added their sauce, cheese and other ingredients and waited patiently for the chance to taste their very own handmade pizza!!
To mark their special day at Boston Pizza and their first hand made pizza experience the kids were all given certificates to remember their success at Pizza College!!!

Looking forward to the next time we get to do this!!!

My Princess is 3!

Yesterday my little princess turned 3!

It was a great day full of chaos, amazing friends (many of who I met thanks to momstown!!), squeals of laughter from the kiddies as they all had fun and of course there was cake, and lots of it!

Usually I order a cake from the grocery store or Costco, it's just easy. I don't have to bake, the look great and taste great and the price isn't too bad. This year, for some reason, I was inspired to bake me own cake for my daughter. I love to bake but usually it's simple and just for treats for the family.

So a few months ago I was looking on the Internet for cake ideas for her cake and I found some amazing princess themed cake. Not sure if this was a good idea or a bad one because it started my mind thinking and planning for this spectacular cake for my little one!

It took days to prepare.... first I hand made molded white chocolate crowns 2 days ahead of time. That was actually fun and turned out great! Then the night before the big day I started the cake.... and the cupcakes. The cakes were from boxed mixes, pretty easy right? sure, but boy did it take long to bake to cakes and 48 muffins! Then I decided to make the butter cream icing from scratch, a feat that I am super proud of after watching many YouTube videos and hearing how hard it can be to get the right consistency.

All in all it took 9 hours to make the cake! It was a huge hit and tasted great!!!

The things we do for our kids.... sometimes you feel crazy in the moment, but the smiles and giggles that we get in return just make it worth it!!!
