Couples new and old can have a good time without leaving the house!

I have been feeling a little sentimental lately, this always happens at milestones for me.

Kids birthdays, my birthday, weddings, anniversaries, births... anything really.  Ok I am a bundle of super emotions and sometimes I can't control them!

With so many things happening in my own life over the last year and so many things happening in my friends lives, I spend a lot of time thinking and reflecting on the "why's" and the "how's".

This past year I have gone through a separation, a move and the process of starting over.  I have watched my babies adjust.  I have watched myself adjust.  I thank my stars that I have had the support that I have.

In the past year I have also watch friends get married, have babies, lose babies, go through divorce, lose jobs, and all the while through all the turmoil, persevere.  I think this is how I personally survive, knowing I am not alone.

So this past week my sentiments have greatly surrounded relationships as I have watched my friends and family go through times of increased love and times of loss.

My own situation has caused me to reflect greatly on the importance of relationships and the importance of nurturing them, new or old.

I watch my parents, who married under less than ideal circumstances as teenagers, expecting a baby, and surviving almost 38 years of marriage and will probably be together another 38.  They are the ultimate in role models for how to have a relationship.

I came across a great list of way to keep the spark alive in an old relationship... or to light a spark in a new one.  Such simple thoughts, yet ones that could mean the world to someone else.

Fun things to do as a couple: courtesy of Buzzle.com

• Hungry? Cook an exotic dish together and explore your culinary talents.
• Swimming, stretching, crunches, exercise together.
• Play a game of truth or dare with your partner and get as naughty as you can.
• Couples trying to knock each other down in a pillow fight is an interesting and fun-filled activity.
• Give a relaxing massage to your partner. Add a touch of romance with soft music playing in the background.
• Rent some DVDs and enjoy a movie marathon together.
• Playing video games is a challenging and very fun activity to do at home.
• Have a musical streak? Try composing a song together, that will become your 'special song'.
• Redecorating your house together is another fun thing for couples to do at home. This will help you create a living space that matches your style and tastes.
• Enjoy a relaxing bubble bath together.
• Blindfold each other and play random games. (If you know what I mean!)
• Compile a list of all your favorite songs and movies. Burn it later and enjoy!

I think reading this, many of you will feel as I do, so simple, yet so enjoyable with someone you care about.

NO matter how old we are or how long our relationships have last, we need to remember to take time from life and enjoy those people in our lives.  I know for certain, that it's time for me to enjoy the simple things and I hope that this inspires others to

This month our book was the Hungry Bear.  Scholastic sent us yet another perfect book for our kiddies for our Tales for Tots program

The heartwarming story of a  brown bear and polar bear had the kids attention from the page one until the end.

It was a great story about sharing and building friendships. The kids also had fun colouring pictures of Polar Bears!

The  Arctic Animal theme this month was lots of fun!

Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes screening was a huge success for some Barrie kids!

Winners from our Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes contest had the chance to head to Toronto to view a screening of the newest Barbie  movie which was released on DVD yesterday!!

Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes is an exciting ballet movie in which Barbie™ stars as Kristyn, the hard-working dancer, who wows the big ballet company in her performance of Giselle and Swan Lake.  Through this journey Kristyn learns that when you dance from your heart – your dreams can come true.

Our little winners were so excited about getting to go to the screening and I am pretty sure the moms were too!  As our winners had said in their entries, Barbie was a big part of their lives growing up, and are a huge part of their little girls lives now.

Our winners were so impressed by the Screening.  From the reception, the pink cookies and pink lemonade to the movie itself, the day was perfect... and getting to meet Barbie was the icing on the cake!!!

To compliment the new movie, Barbie™ has released a new doll.

In the new movie Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes, Barbie® stars as Kristyn Farraday™, a beautiful ballerina whose magical pink shoes take her into a fantasy world of ballet. While journeying through this delightful world, Kristyn transforms into the beautiful and graceful ballet characters Giselle and Odette. This doll captures her dramatic transformation with a ballet costume that changes from an elegant purple and blue dance outfit to the stunning pink costume she wears in her final performance of the movie.

Girls simply take her hand and turn the doll to twist her torso. As she rotates, her skirt reverses for a magical transformation. Twist her the other way to change back to the first outfit. Both skirts look darling with her pink glitter-detailed bodice. Ballet arms and sparkling ballet shoes are graceful dance details, and a tiara and necklace help complete her fantastical look.

Stay tuned for our next contest featuring Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes starting March 1st and our Music and Movember event featuring Barbie™ in the Pink Shoes taking place March 25th!

Making it rain rainbow colours in Barrie!

Little Scientist was so much fun this week, a little messy, but fun!

Science is a fun and easy way to learn.  Asking the kids questions, making them guess and just showing them cool things will grab their attention and get their little minds working.

This week we made rain... rainbow coloured rain!

We took clear containers full of water and added clouds.   Mounds of shaving cream made the perfect clouds!  We discovered that less was better for allowing the "rain" to come  through.

Once we had our clouds, we were ready to make it rain!  By dropping food colouring on top of the clouds, we waited patiently for the rain to come through.

We were able to see the colours stream through the shaving cream and into the water, looking just like rain!!

The kids were having fun trying to figure out what colour would come through first.

Once we were done learning, the play started!  The fluffy mounds of now colourful shaving cream was too much for the kids to resist!  The dug in and played in the foam until we had to take it away!

Barrie Babies LOVE Fisher Price!

Fisher Price has been so great to our mamas over the years and today was no exception!

Fisher Price has been a household name for many years, and even new moms are ready to explore what they have to offer!!

In addition to all the great ways we already work with then, Fisher Price and their Overjoyed campaign sponsored our Baby Basic Playdate this week!

The Baby Basics events is held twice weekly here in Barrie is a great event for moms with babies under 12 months.   Baby Basics is an awesome way to get together with other moms of babies in a quieter setting to get to know each other.

Today we had 25 moms and their babies join us for a great Playdate sponsored by Fisher Price.

Our event today featured 4 great items that the moms loved!  Featured today were the Snugabunny Swing, Talk and Learn Tea Party, Aquarium and Talking Phone!

The kids got to play with the toys and test out the fantastic swing.  Not only were the babies having fun, but the moms were too!

The best part about today's event, after all the fun and new friends, was that someone was going to win the great products!

The moms were overjoyed (pun intended!!!) to have the chance to win one of the great items!!

Thank you so much to all the moms that came out and of course to Fisher Price for sponsoring this great event!!!
