Happy Back to School!

It's that time of year again! The kids are back to school!

It's a happy day for many parents and a sad one for many more.

For those of us with kids going off to school again, it's old hat. Sure we will miss the kids after spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with them for the last 2 months, but a huge part of us will be happy to have the routine back and to have the kids focused on something other than play.

For those of us who have kids going off to school for the first time this could be a scary and sad time. Having our babies with us fo those first few precious yeara being able to protect them and nurture them all on our own, has been special.

Even if you were back to work and the kids were in daycare, sending them off to school can still be scary and sad.

For one, it means they are growing up. Something we try to stop for those precious first years. Aside from growing up, going to school means they are left to make friends on their own, be independent, and soak up as much knowledge as they can in the day to become even smarter than they already are.

We know they will be in good hands and have loads of fun, but still, it's our nature as mothers to worry. Will they have friends? Will they eat their lunch? Will they be able to make it to the bathroom on their own? Will they be scared?

But when they come home from their first day and are full of smiles and excitment as they tell stories about how Annie and Michael are their best friends and how they painted and ate lunch with Johnny, we will kmow that they are in the best place they can be when not with us.
