Happy Family Day!

I love spending time with my family and I am lucky to be a WAHM (work at home mom) running momstown here in Barrie. Because of this, i get to spend a lot of time with my kids daily, but to have a whole dedicated to this special time is great!

I made sure that we had a very easy going, relaxed and fun day. No rushing to get dressed and off to school or appointments. No running from errand to errand. No rushed meals or on the go food.

We lazily slept in (ok barely but still), laid in bed and played, had a lazy breakfast and then started the play time. Some cars and a round of house. A couple of movies and some colouring.

It was nice to have everyone home and not feel so hurried.

Tonight we are even ordering in so that I don't have to cook dinner and we can just continue to be chill.

I must confess that the kids didn't even get dressed today. I did change from my jammies to a pair of comfy sweats and a t-shirt, but only because my dad stopped in.

So far it has been a perfect day... a few more hours and then hopefully a perfect bedtime!

Happy Family Day everyone!

Busy Weekend

This weekend is a busy one with Valentines Day and Family Day. It is a weekend to spend time with loved ones and take time out to just do "family things".

Im not a huge fan of Valentines Day, to be honest. I feel its a day for card and flower companies to make lots of money. I have always told my husband NOT to buy me flowers as he will pay double the price on Valentines day, just wait until mid week and get me some for 1/2 the price. I don't need flowers just one day a year to know that he loves and cares for me. I know I sound like a scrooge but I just feel its over rated.

Now Family Day on the other had, I think is important! Not that everyday shouldn't be "Family Day" but I think its one day that everyone should take the time and make it just about family. Turn off the computers, put aside that phone call and just snuggle up on the couch watch a movie or go skating. Spending family time together doesn't have to cost money.

Enjoy your day with the family tomorrow!

Family Day

I hope everyone enjoyed Family Day on Monday. It was nice to have a long weekend following a busy week and take some time to spend with family.

Life is so busy and I am always running around from place to place, getting things done, packing lunches, going to Karate, working etc. This family day I really enjoyed having some down time with my boys. We went skating in the morning and I loved watching my 7 yr old race around the ice, taking the time with my 3 yr old to help him skate. We sat at the snack bar and had chips and juice, just talking and being silly. Braydon, my 7yr old son said "I wish we could go swimming now!" I looked at him and said, "ok! lets go home and get our stuff!" I thought he was going to fall off his chair. Usually we have to rush to another activity, or get grocerys, or get home to clean the house. Instead, we ran home, got our suits and off we went to the pool! it was great. We were all exhausted at the end of the day and everyone was in bed early. As I watched my boys sleep, I sat back and thought about how fast time goes and we really do have to cherish every moment, because it goes away fast!

We are celebrating all of our February Birthdays on Monday here in Momstown at our Monthly Birthday celebration. I am sure there will be cake everywhere and lots of great picture opportunities. It will be a time to sit back, reflect and see how fast your little one has grown. If it is your childs first birthday or their 3rd, I am sure at some point you have asked yourself where has the time gone, and watched in amazement as your little one learns new things each and every day.
