Family Day

I hope everyone enjoyed Family Day on Monday. It was nice to have a long weekend following a busy week and take some time to spend with family.

Life is so busy and I am always running around from place to place, getting things done, packing lunches, going to Karate, working etc. This family day I really enjoyed having some down time with my boys. We went skating in the morning and I loved watching my 7 yr old race around the ice, taking the time with my 3 yr old to help him skate. We sat at the snack bar and had chips and juice, just talking and being silly. Braydon, my 7yr old son said "I wish we could go swimming now!" I looked at him and said, "ok! lets go home and get our stuff!" I thought he was going to fall off his chair. Usually we have to rush to another activity, or get grocerys, or get home to clean the house. Instead, we ran home, got our suits and off we went to the pool! it was great. We were all exhausted at the end of the day and everyone was in bed early. As I watched my boys sleep, I sat back and thought about how fast time goes and we really do have to cherish every moment, because it goes away fast!

We are celebrating all of our February Birthdays on Monday here in Momstown at our Monthly Birthday celebration. I am sure there will be cake everywhere and lots of great picture opportunities. It will be a time to sit back, reflect and see how fast your little one has grown. If it is your childs first birthday or their 3rd, I am sure at some point you have asked yourself where has the time gone, and watched in amazement as your little one learns new things each and every day.

Valentines Day was busy one.

Friday was a busy day in Momstown Barrie!

The day started off with our Valentines Day Party. Everyone wore Valententines Colours and enjoyed our circle, with a story ( Kiss Kiss) and a valentines finger play. The older children played some games, did some crafts and ate snacks. The little ones enjoyed crawling around and visiting with friends.

Then that evening it was Moms night out! We attended a Pole Dancing Class at Organic Bodies. The class started off with a warm up, then some sexy walks. We then learned a "routine". It is harder than it looks swinging around a pole and trying to look graceful! We all had a great time, with lots of laughs, some bruises, and very sore muscles the next day.

Im only speaking for myself but today ( two days later) pretty much every muscle in my body hurts. From my neck ( neck rolls), to my arms ( pulling myself up on the pole), to my ribs and abs (laughing so hard and trying to suck it all in, while doing the "sexy up") right down to the ankle I banged on the pole, while doing the "carousel". It was all worth it.

We ended the eveing with a tea at Timmies, as we were all to tired and sore to do anything more exciting!

By the time I got home on Friday night, I was exhausted. I can't say I have packed that much in to a day in a long time.

Friday is shaping up to be a full day!

Friday is a busy day here in Momstown Barrie!

We have two separate Valentines day celebrations happening! We had such a huge response to our first one and a long waiting list for members wanting to attend, that one of our very kind members has offered to host a second Valentines day craft morning in her home.

We have our scheduled play groups happening on Friday morning as well! Everyone will be busy doing something this Friday in preparation for Valentines day!

Friday night is sure to be a great night as we have a Pole Dancing class at Organic Bodies scheduled! So far we have 15 moms signed up. Its going to be a fun and interesting night thats forsure. I have been told I am not allowed to take pictures or video at this event... not sure why! If nothing else it will be a night full of laughs and a good work out.

Stay tuned for my blog on Saturday for all the details.......

February Blahs!

February is here and I already have the BLAHS! I have heard nothing but how horrible this month is going to be for snow and cold............... will it ever end???? There is light ( pardon the pun) at the end of the tunnel. I was so excited tonight when I looked out of the window at 5:30 pm and it was still somewhat light out! does that mean Spring will be here at some point?

I guess for now I cant do anything about the weather, unless I move south ( and when I say south I don't mean Florida, I mean really south!) to escape it. I will have to embrace it! So I will bundle up, take the kids skating, sledding, and maybe build a snow man or two. But I will keep my eye on the sky and the ground for signs of spring.

We have lots on tap here in the Momstown Neighborhood for February. Our Winter Wonderland Party, Valentines Day crafts and a Valentines Day party all for the kids. For our Moms nights out we have our Monthly Meet and Greet, Pole Dancing Class, and Moms night at Creative Cafe.

I hope to see you all at some of our events in February, BLAHS and all!

What an Awesome Week!!!

This past week was jam packed with fun!!! It was darn cold most of the week, but it didn't keep me home! It didn't' keep many moms home!!!

I missed a big party on Monday, Momstown's first PJ party!! I asked a bunch of the moms that made it out and heard that even though it was a cold day outside everyone inside was warm and cozy in their "Jammies" and there were lots of jumping bunnies, some monkeys jumping on the bed and a story about good night kisses. Not only were there lots of snacks and crafts, but the kids had fun playing red light, green light, What time is it Mr. Wolf and running in and out of the play tent.

On Tuesday I hosted our first Baby Book Club. It was so much fun to get all the moms together. There wasn't much reading with this group of energetic little ones, but there was lots of fun!!!!

Wednesday we got to make All About Me books with our kids, it was a great craft for the kids and a great Keepsake for the moms... Thanks Corrine for hosting and making the morning so much fun!!!

The fun continued before the week came to an end with moms getting out child free for a ladies only dinner. The company was great, conversation was good and the laughs were plenty.... so was the food!!!

All in all I had a fabulous week, and I know that there are many moms out there that shared in my fun and feel the same way....

I guess I should mention that not only was the WEEK great, but the WEEKEND too!!! My oldest daughter, and accomplished baton twirler at the ripe old age of ten, had a competition in Hamilton on Saturday and came home with a gold medal!!! WOO HOO!!!

And to end the week of mayhem and fun a bunch of the "scrappers" got together for a full day of scrap booking, chit chat and of course....FOOD! Thanks Karen for hosting and for the awesome ribs!!!

Now to get some rest for another week of excitement!!!

Momstown Playgroups in Full Swing!!

Barrie is stil cold, like Arctic Cold...I dont remember it being this cold last winter but apparently it was!

This week momstown started its registered playgroups, so at least all the moms and kiddies had nice warm places to meet and play!!!

We have 5 playgroups this session, Tadpole for out littlest one, Turtles for under a year babes, Penguins for those over a year, Chipmunks for the 2 year olds, and Kangaroos for our 3 and up kids.

So far I have heard that they all went well. My group, the Penguins met for the first time yesterday and a ball! All the kids played well together and had lots of fun, especially when the kitty appeared! The moms talked and got to know each other and lost track of time!!! Before we knew it, we were beyond our time but our gracious hostess of the week did not seem to mind!

Soon, I will be planning session 2 of the Barrie momstown Play Groups! Hope you sign up, you will love it too!!!

Dinner with the moms

This past week we had a blast of winter, come great events and a dinner for mom!!!

We all survived the blast of winter...barely! My new found addiction to scrapbooking had me venture out in the storm to meet some fellow momstown scrappers for a day of scrapbooking! Snow can't stop us!!! If you love scrapbooking, you need to joing our scrapbooking club! A good coffee, a drink or two, some food, and of course of scrapping, its always a good time!

Last Friday was a busy day for our moms. One of our super members held a fun Under the Sea themed play day, the kids had fun and the moms did too! Some of the members had to cancel at the last minute as the cold season has its grip on the children of Barrie, but those that did make it had lots of fun.

The night, the moms got out on their own and took over Gio's Restaurant on Anne St. We had scheduled a moms dinner and gift exchange back December for Christmas, but mother nature sent a wintery storm that night and we had to reschedule.

I had to miss the dinner as my daughter had a competition out of town, but from what I heard from many on the moms that went, I missed a fantastic, laughter filled night and a great dinner.... next time, I will be sure there is nothing keeping me from missing moms night out!!!!

So this week brings more fun for the kids and moms.... I am off to our New Year's Pot Luck....
